 Bresnan Communications is committed to making a difference in the lives of families through their Internet safety initiative, Bresnan Safety Net. As part of this initiative, Bresnan has joined forces with the world-famous Missoula Children’s Theatre (MCT) to create an interactive, theatrical all-school assembly to ratchet up the dialogue concerning this important issue.  This unprecedented theatrical presentation entitled “The Bresnan Safety Net”, is a compelling, 45-minute, interactive workshop/assembly that truly engages kids. With the help of the well-meaning but slightly clumsy and buffoonish character of Captain Internet, children visit important safety issues and help act out selected scenarios concerning Internet safety. Each child attending the assembly (anywhere from 100 to 500 children per community) takes home a DVD version of the presentation that includes a family quiz and Child Safety Kit to further encourage family dialogue about safe Internet activities and wireless etiquette. Bresnan’s involvement helps ensure that the regular activities of an MCT Residency, where 50 to 60 local children from grades K-12 are selected to rehearse and perform a one-hour children’s musical in one short week, continues on as usual. The mid-week, interactive, all-school assembly adds an important element to the week's activities as Bresnan and MCT bring focus to the important social issue of Children's Internet Safety. The residency week culminates with the public performances of the children's musical play that has made MCT a household name in communities across North America. Children participating in the children's musical receive a commemorative t-shirt as a reminder that Bresnan made this week possible.The Missoula Children’s Theatre is in its 34th year of bringing an educational, social-skill building theatre experience to children in communities across North America and worldwide. This year, MCT will complete residencies in all 50 states, 4 Canadian provinces and 14 countries.  Beginning in March, fifteen residencies, sponsored by Bresnan Communications and featuring the “Bresnan Safety Net” workshop/assembly, are scheduled for the 2008-09 school year. Schools will be selected from within the Bresnan service areas in Montana, Wyoming, Utah and Colorado.
